This is the most emotional carnival ever holy crap

Feels like one of those 1950s black and white movies about a lil kid and his sister or something going to the carnival and having a good time. Nice work!

I wonder, how long does it usually take you to compose a piece? Are you spending weeks finding inspiration, and then weeks composing, or weeks finding inspiration and then cranking out a piece in a few days?

Solacitude responds:

It's funny because while listening to the end result and thinking about how to title this piece, I had exactly this idea of a black and white silent film music coming to mind!

Autumn because of the more moody intro, which is the original inspiration for the whole piece. At first I was thinking about developing it into a more romantic waltz then changed my mind. The mood gets quite quickly more positive as soon as we get into the carnival part :D

As for the composition process, it's in the context of the NGADM so it's 2 weeks total to find the idea and compose around it until reaching a satisfying enough end result.

The process is not always the same, but for this one the original idea is a simpler version of the intro that I found in the first 2 days. At first though it's always the same, I improvise, let my mind roam free until finding an idea worth expanding on. Then I practice and complexify this idea until I get comfortable with it enough to hit record. Inspiration and working on the original idea is the biggest part of it. Putting it all together is done in the last couple days before deadline. What is frustrating is that I get better and better at playing it along the way and end up rerecording parts until the very end haha! Like the first theme, I had one version after 4 days that is way worst than the actual one, that I changed for another on day 7 then changed again on day 12, which is the actual version, but I could continue to practice it and get a better version... Good enough is enough to be good! Sometimes I have to not focus too much on making things perfect or I lose myself. Let's say it's something like 10 days of finding and expanding on the original idea then 4 days putting the end result together.

I'm glad you appreciate the end result and that it inspired you in the same kind of way it did for me!! Thanks for the review.

bit repetitive, but you got some great sounds in there!

ravenousxxxdemon responds:

Brother, I haven't slept right in the past week and a half. I've been too inspired and have been producing some of the best music of my life. This is still a work in progress (as of 11/16/2024 4:00pm) but I think it's coming along nicely. I appreciate you always coming to check stuff out and leaving your two cents. I'm glad you enjoy it and I hope it inspires you to create some bangers of your own.
