question about music

Posted by crispybatteryacid - October 19th, 2024

Hey fellas,

What are everybody’s opinions on editing a piece of music after it’s been on the portal for a while? I’m not satisfied w a lot of my older stuff and I’ve been thinking of editing them, but I don’t wanna have to post a completely separate piece that’s just an updated version of it; I’m also concerned that if I edit the one that’s already up, ppl who’ve already listened won’t notice the difference.

So my question is, do I remaster old stuff that sucks and post the new, revised version, or do I edit the stuff that’s already up and just mention in the comments that it’s been edited and therefore avoid posting a separate piece.

cheers,

crispybatteryacid

P.S. sorry if it sounds unclear, if y’all need clarification let me know

I say remaster your stuff, and post it, or hell, make an album and post it to YouTube and other music platforms

I’m making an album rn, and the reason I asked is cuz a lot of my older stuff was supposed to be included in it, but now that I’ve grown as a composer I realize they suck. But I still need the music so I’m like “dude should I remaster and post or remaster and don’t post” yk what I mean?

Thanks for the insight. Thought about posting to YT but chose new grounds because they don’t censor small artists

I believe it is a valuable skill to be able to improve old projects and you should do it regardless of how you decide to do this!

As for the question, the way I went about it was to update a bunch of songs and make a news post bumping them. Because republishing wasn't allowed unless the song had major changes & additions and my updates just weren't that.

So yeah I agree with Creeperforce24 about uploading them to other platforms like YT. That would be a good way to reach more people in any sense of the matter.

hmm okay I’ll consider it. Thanks for the insight, I’ll probably do something similar to you and make posts about it.

Cheers!
